Hexagram 24, Fù (Return): Line 3
复卦六三 · 地雷复 · 中文版
六三:频复,厉无咎。
The line (Legge)
The third SIX, divided, shows one who has made repeated returns. The position is perilous, but there will be no error.
Small Image commentary
Notwithstanding 'the perilous position of him who has made many returns,' there will be no error through (his aiming after righteousness).
象曰:频复之厉,义无咎也。
In plain words
Returning again and again: danger, but no fault. The third line is neither central nor correct and keeps wavering, but it does come back. The Small Image says in principle there is no fault.
Applying it to your situation
If you keep making the same mistake and coming back, this line suggests turning back is good, but the danger should be seen. What keeps pulling you off course?
Position
A broken (yin) line in the third place, which is a yang (odd) place, so it is not in its proper place. Its partner is line 6; both are yin, so they do not respond.
If this line moves
With this line moving alone, Fù changes into Hexagram 36 Míng Yí (Darkening of the Light). The Jiaoshi Yilin verse for this change (Chinese): 焦氏易林·复之明夷.
The hexagram
Hexagram 24 Fù (Return). The Judgment: Fu indicates that there will be free course and progress (in what it denotes). (The subject of it) finds no one to distress him in his exits and entrances; friends come to him, and no error is committed . He will return and repeat his (proper) course. In seven days comes his return. There will be advantage in whatever direction movement is made.
