Hexagram 7, Shī (The Army): Line 1
师卦初六 · 地水师 · 中文版
初六:师出以律,否臧凶。
The line (Legge)
The first SIX, divided, shows the host going forth according to the rules (for such a movement). If these be not good, there will be evil.
Small Image commentary
'The host goes forth according to the rules (for) such a movement:' - if those rules be not observed, there will be evil.
象曰:师出以律,失律凶也。
In plain words
An army sets out according to its rules; without good order there is misfortune. "Rules" means military discipline and command. Zhu Xi reads the last phrase as "if not good", while Cheng Yi reads it as "even if it wins, there is misfortune". The first line is the army's setting out, when discipline comes first. The Small Image says losing discipline brings misfortune.
Applying it to your situation
If you are about to lead a group into something new, this line suggests setting the rules and roles first. Does everyone understand the basic rules of this undertaking?
Position
A broken (yin) line in the first place, which is a yang (odd) place, so it is not in its proper place. Its partner is line 4; both are yin, so they do not respond.
If this line moves
With this line moving alone, Shī changes into Hexagram 19 Lín (Approach). The Jiaoshi Yilin verse for this change (Chinese): 焦氏易林·师之临.
A recorded case from Takashima
Shi to Lin: founding a joint-stock company: Someone organising an industrial company, with shares subscribed and articles drawn up, asked whether it would succeed. The first line of Shi, "the army goes out in good order", led Takashima to say the articles alone could not decide it; everything depended on who became president.
The hexagram
Hexagram 7 Shī (The Army). The Judgment: Shi indicates how, in the case which it supposes, with firmness and correctness, and (a leader of) age and experience, there will be good fortune and no error.
