Hexagram 60, Jié (Limitation): Line 4
节卦六四 · 水泽节 · 中文版
六四:安节,亨。
The line (Legge)
The fourth SIX, divided, shows its subject quietly and naturally (attentive to all) regulations. There will be progress and success.
Small Image commentary
'The progress and success of the quiet and natural (attention) to all regulations' is due to the deference which accepts the ways of (the ruler) above.
象曰:安节之亨,承上道也。
In plain words
Contented limitation: success. The fourth line is yielding and correct, serves the fifth, and is at ease with limits rather than forcing them. The Small Image says it carries on the way of the one above.
Applying it to your situation
If moderation has already become a habit, this line suggests simply keeping it up calmly. Which limits have become a natural part of you?
Position
A broken (yin) line in the fourth place, which is a yin (even) place, so it is in its proper place. Its partner is line 1; one is yin and the other yang, so they respond to each other.
If this line moves
With this line moving alone, Jié changes into Hexagram 58 Duì (The Joyous Lake). The Jiaoshi Yilin verse for this change (Chinese): 焦氏易林·节之兑.
The hexagram
Hexagram 60 Jié (Limitation). The Judgment: Jie intimates that (under its conditions) there will be progress and attainment. (But) if the regulations (which it prescribes) be severe and difficult, they cannot be permanent.
