Hexagram 14, Dà Yǒu (Great Possession): Line 5
大有卦六五 · 火天大有 · 中文版
六五：厥孚交如，威如，吉。
The line (Legge)
The fifth SIX, divided, shows the sincerity of its subject reciprocated by that of all the others (represented in the hexagram). Let him display a proper majesty, and there will be good fortune.
Small Image commentary
'His sincerity is reciprocated by all the others:' - his sincerity serves to stir and call out what is in their minds. 'The good fortune springing from a display of proper majesty' shows how they might (otherwise) feel too easy, and make no preparation (to serve him).
象曰：厥孚交如，信以发志也。威如之吉，易而无备也。
In plain words
Its good faith meets those above and below, and it has dignity: good fortune. The fifth line is yielding in the place of honour and wins over all the yang lines with sincerity. The Small Image says good faith stirs others' resolve, and dignity is needed because if one is only easygoing, people grow casual and are not on their guard.
Applying it to your situation
If you are in a leadership role, this line suggests treating people sincerely while keeping a sense of proportion and dignity. Has your easygoing manner cost you the respect you should have?
Position
A broken (yin) line in the fifth place, which is a yang (odd) place, so it is not in its proper place. It holds the centre of the upper trigram. Its partner is line 2; one is yin and the other yang, so they respond to each other.
If this line moves
With this line moving alone, Dà Yǒu changes into Hexagram 1 Qián (The Creative). The Jiaoshi Yilin verse for this change (Chinese): 焦氏易林·大有之乾.
The hexagram
Hexagram 14 Dà Yǒu (Great Possession). The Judgment: Da You indicates that, (under the circumstances which it implies), there will be great progress and success.
